Álvaro García was born in Malaga Spain, in 1965, and is among the most important poets of his generation. His work has been awarded such prizes as Premio Hiperión, and featured in anthologies of Spanish poetry, including Juan Ballesta's Poesía española reciente (Cátedra), Luis Antonio de Villena’s La lógica de Orfeo (Visor) and Domingo Sánchez Mesa’s Cambio de Siglo (Hiperión). His volumes Para lo que no existe (For what does not exist) and Caída (Falling) were shortlisted for the 2000 and 2003 Premio Nacional de Poesía, the most prestigious award for poetry in Spain.
